Pros

Salary, benefits, work-life balance, most people are good to work with. Great place to work if you work in agriculture and industrial biosciences.

Cons

Poor career development - one is on there own here, leadership does not help at all. Leadership quality is highly variable - the company does not do a good job of developing people with leadership potential. Slow decision making processes. This is due to a lack of empowerment at all levels. Too many people are involved in the decision processes and too much consensus is required to get to a decision. DuPont is in the process of transforming itself from a material science company into a agricultural/industrial biosciences based company. As such opportunities and job security for material scientists are becoming scarce.

Pros

- Excellent work/life balance - Generous 401k plan, great healthcare options, good PTO and other benefits - Friendly atmosphere with colleagues all across the world - Diversified high performance materials portfolio - Room for advancement - Very thoughtful package if you are laid off like I unfortunately was

Cons

- Focused on short term gains for shareholders, not long term strategy for employees - Minimal reward and recognition for high performers - Little to no action taken to remove low performers - Fewer options to move and develop experience laterally across the company as business units have shrunk and been sold off - R&D has been essentially killed off. Don't expect any major breakthrough inventions anymore. Company is focused on innovating with existing products and growing through M&A

Going downhill fast

Pros

*Excellent benefits (unbeatable 401K match) *Strong company reputation *Above average pay

Cons

*Management isn't aligned across the business units so they're always fighting against each other and for their own gain instead of the gain of the whole company. Due to this, management often asks their reports to do ethically questionable things to make their group look better. *HR is a joke, basically doesn't exist. *Personally, my manager a couple levels up was a bully. *People were often overworked and under appreciated. A lot of negative feedback was given, but rarely any positive.
