Pros

Decent salary & benefits compared with other chem companies. Work life balance in my current job. There are a variety of jobs available within the company. Work with many great people!

Cons

Musical bosses - management positions are stepping stones for those wanting to move up and are changed often. Many of these people are great engineers, but have zero people skills and are given very limited training for their new management roles. Work life balance is not supported adequately at the plant sites. Benefits have decreased over the last several years (medical insurance premiums, when reach medicare age - the med insurance does not pay remaining portion after medicare (remaining 20%), Reduced pension and survivor benefits for those employed before 2007(did improve 401k matching - for all the good it does in the current market!), no pension for new employees after 2007 Even though there are a variety of jobs available and open in DuPont, your business will not always release you and can hold you in your current role for an unlimited time.

Pros

Good technical expertise especially in engineering and science. Big company with many businesses and products offers diverse opportunities for career development national and international. Good benefits.

Cons

Very bureaucratic. Diverse thought not encouraged. Hierarchy and "who you know" dictate job advancement. Too slow to respond timely to market opportunities and customer needs. No consistent development programs for professionals. Basically non-existent program for early career professionals and very weak for more experienced ones. Salaries do not commensurate with responsibilities especially with increased workload as aging workforce retires. Chemical handling and chemical plants might not offer attractive job settings for new professionals especially women.

Pros

Well, it's a job. With unemployment on the rise, I'm grateful to be in a business that's actually doing well for DuPont. I have personally had great experiences with flexibility and work/life balance, but that may just be my manager's way of doing things.

Cons

There's a lot of negative press for DuPont in Delaware. Also, it's hard to climb the corporate ladder.
