Toxic management and favoritism overshadow small paycheck

Pros

They will hire almost anybody. It's a (small) paycheck.

Cons

Started out as a fun easygoing job. Then some genius decided to close a profitable store and move us to a space 3x the size where it's close to impossible to turn a profit due to the higher rent, higher utilities, higher payroll, etc. Our store manager from the old store now manages the new store and he has by choice or necessity become a typical corporate robo-drone that doesn't give a crap about most of his people (except for his close little clique and the female employees that tolerate his attentions). All the management is 30 years or under and the store atmosphere is high-school-clique, you're in or you're not. If you're not in the clique you will hate working there, suffering endless little miseries and injustices for being an outsider. Just showing-up and doing your job is not enough! Forget complaining to corporate, they don't care. Several of the management team are dating/fooling around with each other AND SUBORDINATES! Theft has been a real problem and in one incident $2000 worth of hunting knives got stolen and the managers covered-up for one of their own who left the display case unlocked so they wouldn't get fired. Many more stories like this have taken place here. Dunham's provides money to buy treats for ALL OF THE EMPLOYEES on a monthly basis, but most of the time when donuts are bought they end up in the managers office for the bosses and their clique friends. If you tick-off the wrong manager or assistant manager (which is VERY EASY TO DO) you will end up doing unpleasant tasks like cleaning the restrooms, or sweeping the entire 110,00 square foot store while favorite employees have to do almost no little nightly chores.

Pros

Not repetitive, something new everyday.

Cons

Awful micromanaging, inventory management needs an update, weekly ads are so much to handle, and usually has issues that need fixed from corporate.
