Pros

Manageable work-life balance; company culture is open

Cons

Leadership is not diverse. Underpaid and over-worked. Hiring has been top-heavy; lots of managers managing very little, while the lower-tier workers are slammed with constant project work.

Pros

Some people are genuinely pleasant. Very weed-friendly managers.

Cons

Way too many ultra-long term employees have formed cliques that are impossible to break into. This place is the poster child of toxic positivity. Everyone has plastered on smiles right before they stab you in the back. One way they help to lower energy consumption is by throwing so many people under buses that they have run out of buses. Genius! They talk the talk of diversity but DO NOT follow through. Just take a peek at our leadership page. Just put some shades on first - it's kinda bright! They formed a diversity committee, that had a few senior leaders on it, but dissolved it when they started to ask difficult questions. Their technical infrastructure is very shaky. For a company that sells tech tools, they invest very little here. Some senior tech people just left so there is a knowledge gap too. One of the tech crew told me that they're not following any best practices either. We were purchased by a venture capital company recently and they have sucked all the joy out of E Source. All of the perks that made it worth working here have disappeared. Pity, this used to be such a great place to work.

E Source Response

Thank you for your feedback and we're sorry this is your experience. E Source is committed to increasing our employee's sense of belonging through our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. Creating and fostering a culture of DEI is a company mindset, not a project. We're early in our journey and working at a steady pace. Over the last two years, we have taken hiring for diversity very seriously and made a number of changes to our recruiting strategy that have resulted in an increase in our racial diversity from 2% to 20%. To make the conversation about DEI company-wide, we have an expert that speaks monthly at our All Hands meetings. At the beginning of 2022, we added several benefits - including unlimited PTO, work from anywhere, free Headspace, paid parental leave from one week to twelve weeks, and a free health insurance plan. These new perks were based on employee feedback. We are interested in learning more about your comments related to toxic positivity and tech infrastructure. This isn't feedback we've heard before and can only improve when we understand the details of your experience. We'd be grateful if you'd consider meeting with your manager or HR so we can address these points.
