Pros

Having only had nonprofit jobs, I was leery of entering the for-profit workforce. I couldn't think of a better place to have wound up than EAB. I feel challenged by the work we do with our members, and also engaged as a person with passions and interests in our community. The firm offers flexible volunteer and wellness hours to tap into your passion areas, but also to take the time you need to bring your best and most full self to work. EAB values diverse perspectives of thought and experience and has recommitted recruitment efforts across the near term to focus on all aspects of diversity. The work itself remains intriguing and rewarding even after three years. The relationships we build with our members are those built on trust and a shared vision of success, which helps us move the dial on retention, graduation and positive outcomes for our nation's students. I feel fortunate to have met so many people across my time at the firm who genuinely care about the work we do and the members we serve.

Cons

With all of the opportunities to change our member's experience and to provide value to our work, it is easy to overtax one's self or feel overwhelmed. While that is a known risk, I appreciate EAB's recent shift in both culture in policy to combat the stress and wellness implications of this work so that its employees are able to provide the best care to self and our members.
