Pros

-decent pay with travel time and mileage reimbursements, plus overtime -supervisor was almost always available with any questions I had -good overall learning experience for first or second year civil engineers -job entails field technician duties: primary jobs include concrete, soil, and steel rebar testing/inspection

Cons

-very minimal training -long hours (40-60 hrs/wk) -site visits sometimes required long driving distances ( maximum of 180 miles round trip for me) -only one company vehicle; be prepared to drive off road and on rough surfaces -schedule was given with little time in advance (sometimes I wouldn’t know where I was going until the night beforehand) -no office work was given
