Pros
Leadership who has been there for over 10 years and prior Executive Leadership were awesome. Prior culture was supportive. The CEO visited and spoke to everyone. It exemplified a family atmosphere. Most employees performed well because they believed in the mission and wanted to do well for the leaders. Pay is above average for the industry. Med benefits are the best in the industry.
Cons
Current leadership at HR, Claims and CEO levels have shifted the culture away from what made EMC excellent. Collaboration is encouraged, but behind the scenes all decisions are questioned and those who are in "favor" receive the encouragement. There is a shift toward hiring non-experienced JV candidates who do not understand the intricacies of claims, management, reserves and jurisdictions. They are hired at the Corporate Level with significant matrixed leadership responsibilities and influence. This has resulted in a "political" atmosphere where everyone is trying to CYA rather than doing the right thing. There is a transition from autonomous branches to centralized claims. Much of the key knowledge base has left. Employee surveys are now used extensively. Benefits for retirees and long-term contributors has been reduced.

- EMC takes very good care of it's employees - Excellent insurance benefits - IT is rapidly modernizing their processes/practices - Flexible work schedule and location - Good amount of PTO
Cons
- Reserved in it's thought processes, typical to insurance companies that have been around for a long time. - Slow to adapt to change but getting more comfortable - Pay isn't super competitive
