Good workplace for juniors

Business Outlook

Pros

Option to work from home (not all clients though). Immediate managers are very helpful and supportive. Many highly skilled and ambitious colleagues, professional engineering culture - often more professional than that of the client. A good place for any junior to learn technologies and to improve their skills.

Cons

Salary between 30-50% lower than other companies in the same location. The salary raises are lower than the inflation. Learning and self-development is only supported in theory: you can only learn outside your working hours, which are already longer than those at many other companies (9 hours with lunch break included). Work-life balance is non-existent, the workload is heavy. You do not receive the same benefits as the employees of the client since you are a contractor. The projects are often bad, and if you want to change to a different project (client) you need to do interviews the same way as you would when you changed to a different job at another company. The senior management says that employee turnover does not make it necessary to raise salaries (according to them).

Hiring / firing machine

Pros

It is possible to work remotely.

Cons

I would describe this company as a space with its own internal resources for searching for a project and/or position to work for the Customer/Client. So when you join a company, it's not something you might think about. You will be plunged into an endless cycle of interviews, job searches, etc. What's funny is that if you were hired as a senior developer, for example in the Java field, then you will still be interviewed again and again, just to evaluate you, are you a senior developer (even if your last rating was a month ago) Creating a career above a key developer or team leader is difficult or almost impossible, personal relationships are necessary. However, even becoming a highly skilled specialist ina field is difficult because the duration of projects is very short and you will have to move on to other projects very often, even if it does not correspond to your career growth. Because it is more important for the company not to keep an employee unassigned to the client projects for more than 3 months. So if you don't get assigned to a client project, you'll just get fired, and if you don't want to get fired, you'll have to do something just to get assigned to a project, but if you can of course. To get an interview with a client, you will need to go through an internal interviews loop, which in most cases looks like a lottery since it is conducted by non-professionals and in some cases not even experts in the field.

Pros

- A lot of free learning - Great community to improve - Opportunities to change project if needed without changing the company

Cons

- Not aligned culture and values with officials - Culture and values differ from project to project - Sometimes I feel some hidden "culture of fear" from particular management persons
