Pros

Salary is above average, there are offices throughout the world so could move countries easily, may be opportunity to work on international projects

Cons

ERM have recently moved their admin and accounts team to India, firing long-term dedicated staff who have put time into the company. This is disgraceful and the end of the rope of the many profit driven practices ERM has put in place. The company is fully metrics driven, and has stopped people getting promoted because of it. Because it is an international company with large divisions, in the UK your performance will be averaged out on how well the whole division is doing. This always leads to the same spiel that we are not performing as we planned and that will be reflected in the ever dwindling bonuses. Fundamentally the company is too big. Its costs are too high, has to charge high sums for projects, which means it can only take on very large projects. They compensate by squeezing its employees. Making cuts in labor, hence the move to India. Everyone I talked to before I left was miserable and stressed. It's part of the culture. It's fundamentally ingrained in ERM's practices.

Pros

- Flexible work environment with autonomy to set your schedule. As long as project and billable hour expectations are met, there is flexibility in when and where you work.

Cons

- Career growth is largely self-directed. You need to consistently advocate for yourself, seek out development opportunities, and communicate your goals in order to advance. - Performance is heavily driven by utilization and billable-hour targets. Missing those targets can put your position at risk, even when low utilization is partly caused by limited project availability. - Employees are required to use PTO during the company shutdown around Christmas, regardless of whether they personally observe the holiday.
