Pros
Looks great on your resume; public accounting experience required to obtain most other jobs in the accounting field; I was rarely bored; I learned a lot!
Cons
very long working hours; low compensation; most work is done by lower level employees and most proceeds are paid to higher level employees; becoming a higher level employee based on seniority rather than merit; there is a very obvious management goal of maintaining ideal attrition levels, which means carefully balancing carrots and sticks to make people stay but not too many or for too long
