Having a prosperous stable career at ERG is unlikely.

Pros

3 weeks vacation after first year. Great health insurance, 401k and Flexible Spending Accounts. Starting pay is OK for the college student just coming into the workforce.

Cons

90% Government work making government shut downs and furloughs worrisome. Very cliquey environment making it difficult to get into any management position unless you are in the “good ole boy” network. Performance reviews aren’t evaluated fairly. Project Managers tend to hold opportunities to those in the “network” regardless of work performance. Minorities in certain divisions of the company are conspicuously lacking.

Pros

The people at ERG are genuinely nice. The environment is friendly, and fellow colleagues are there to help you, not to compete with you. The work schedule is very flexible, and if need be you can work from home on occasion. There are some wonderful, considerate people, and the company strives to help you solve personal issues.

Cons

ERG's fantastic support for personal issues doesn't extend to professional issues. It is a challenge to get feedback from managers, even when prompted. This is mostly because they want to be nice, and make everyone feel comfortable, but it ultimately presents a challenge to personal development, and growth within the company. Furthermore, though ERG strives to build a strong community within the office, it's not an ideal place to build your social life outside of there. Employees for the most part have their social groups outside the office.

Pros

Flexible schedule. Very low level of disfunction. People at all levels operate from a high level of respect for all employees. You are given a lot of room to take on as much responsibility as you would like to.

Cons

There is not a strong emphasis on growth, which can be good, but sometimes it would be nice if there was more aggressive focus on moving into new work areas. Entrepreneurial/aggressive business development is not necessarily rewarded.
