Pros

There is lots of flexibility in your work day at ERG and plenty of travel opportunities. The people are generally fabulous with a few not so great folks. ERG provides anything an employee needs to complete their job except proper training and expectations.

Cons

There is a culture that creates a lack of appreciation for employees. You are not valued unless you being in the government contracts. The only way for promotion is for someone above you to leave the company. Salaries are low and not competitive. Management gives many reasons for the low salaries, all which are not transparent and barely believable. You must be your own salesman within the company to gain a constant workload. The small bonuses, and I mean small, can be effected by timesheet compliance. Bonus pool is not transparent. Lack of leadership and mentorship at the top is the biggest problem. The annual review activities are arbitrary and not transparent. 401K contribution is not guaranteed. ERG claims to be an employee friendly company but falls short in many aspects.

Great People, Lack of Innovation

Pros

ERG is filled with smart, kind, hard-working colleagues. The work has a positive mission helping federal environmental initiatives. ERG really emphasizes work-life balance and rarely expects you to work more than 40 hours a week, which lowers job stress.

Cons

The pay is too low if you're not an engineer. Management doesn't foster career development; you really need to pave your own way, and you'll often end up languishing on the same projects for years (although of course with new ones thrown in to mix it up). ERG is behind the times because federal government work doesn't foster much innovation. It's not an environment for questioning.
