Sales Expectations Unrealistic

Business Outlook

Pros

Competent colleagues, innovations and sustainability mentality

Cons

Upper management only cares about metrics around number of customer interfaces and call reports (expected 180 per year), not the volume you capture or maintain. Received little coaching from manager, only that we had to meet our numbers.

Growth momentum is waning

Business Outlook

Pros

Respect for people and their families. A good work-life balance. High cash compensation in the Tri-City area.

Cons

There are too many managers relative to the number of engineers available for execution. Senior leadership invests hundreds of millions in projects with compelling stories but poor returns. Excessive safety red tape becomes an excuse to avoid work or causes significant delays. For instance, a simple change like adding water to a recipe can trigger a month-long review.

Pros

People are very open to help others. Multiple role options for Chemical Engineers in the same location.

Cons

Growth is difficult. Career ladder is unclear. Pay is stagnant. People are stuck in the old ways. Very anti-DEI, but in denial that the big issue is nepotism. They don’t invest in their people at all.
