Running Scared

Pros

From the outside looking in everything looks great-nice office lay out in Sunnyvale and good location next to light rail-decent salary and perks- and appearance of intelligent people who work well together-

Cons

The WORST work environment ever-new ideas & new employees are harshly scrutinized and second guessed-makes you scared to open your mouth and makes you wish you never said anything or tried to improve anything. HR is no help at all. It is a very lonely and isolating work environment. They say they are desperate for new technology, better customer experience and employee programs but the executive committee and middle managers make it extremely difficult to get anything done...LOTS of forms to fill out and committees to impress if you want to present a new idea. Seems that the tedious "corporate strategy meetings" never end and nothing ever changes as a result. If you've got a good resume take your skills and good attitude and work somewhere else-

Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic

Pros

Nice people, improving tech stack, decent pay, more realistic calculation of bonuses vs last year

Cons

While "sinking ship" might be too strong, the company's growth has definitely slowed and morale is terrible. After six months of concerted efforts to improve "employee engagement", that score has actually fallen as measured by the HR survey. The worst score for the past few years revolves around senior management. No one really believes they have a plan. They seem to just bumble along relying on luck rather than strategy. Meanwhile they cut our bonuses in half and give themselves raises. The disconnect between rank and file employees and senior management is profound. No one above Director level seems to understand how bad it is. The company is hiring, but I don't know many people who would recommend coming here. I'm actively looking for a new role myself, so how could I ask a friend to come over?

Pros

A few good planners left that actually know how to do their job... if you are lucky enough to work with one.

Cons

Stressful, overworked, underpaid, short staffed, you will do the job of the planner sometimes several planners as many have no clue on how to process things and this is enabled by management. Constant system issues. Lacking communication. Confused leadership. Management favors Planners and will do nothing about ongoing issues to correct behaviors that should never occur in the workplace. Work life balance is not a real option in this position as there is no flex schedule that other employers offer.
