Pros

Edelman is a fantastic place to begin a career, especially if one's boss is an active advocate for their professional development. You will meet people and have a host of experiences that can propel one's career -- clients come to Edelman with interesting and unique problems, and there are genuinely smart people to call colleagues to tackle these problems. Day-to-day, it's generally a pleasure to work at Edelman in Washington, D.C..

Cons

The insurance is downright horrible and our deductible has gone up rather significantly (good luck finding a doctor for something as simple as a physical accepting new patients that accepts it), so are the 401K benefits, which vests after 3 years at a maximum of 60 percent matching (up to 4 percent of salary), which is not competitive. Pay increases has not kept pace with the increase of costs of medical/other costs.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm happy to hear you've had a great start to your career! Feedback is important to us and I appreciate that you've brought up our insurance programs. I'm pleased to share that we recently finished a U.S wide benefit survey and focus groups. Information we gathered, along with benchmarking data, helps us shape our benefit offerings and strategies. For what it's worth, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. There are some inaccuracies in your comment, so I would encourage to reach out to your HR team for clarification. If you are open to discussing, your HR team would be happy to go over all of our benefit offerings in more detail. Maria O'Keeffe, Executive Director, US HR

I'm disappointed to hear you felt challenged as a new mom at Edelman. While we offer a variety of programs, benefits and flexibility to accommodate this significant life transition, I know that it's not always that straightforward. If you'd be willing to share more specific feedback or ideas for the future, so I can better address, please feel free to reach out at maria.okeeffe@edelman.com. In the meantime, I want you to know that providing a good experience pre-baby, during maternity leave and throughout the transition back to work are priorities for us (and personally for me as an Edelman working mom twice around myself). We're reenergized and motivated to continue making improvements to our offerings with our recent recognition as one of the top 100 companies by Working Mother magazine and I hope we'll make you and others proud.
