Pros

You can work when and where you please. It is flexible.

Cons

Low pay, Zero PTO, Zero incentives (They will casually send you a letter one week before summer break letting you know you are likely ineligible for unemployment during break and then proceed to fight you tooth and nail when you do file). It's something when you have zero other prospects.

Pros

Great phone app that allows you to see job postings right away for substitute teachers at various schools. Can easily sign up for assignments. Can work as much or as little as you want to.

Cons

No problems or issues. Only downside is having to pay to get fingerprinted and then pay each year for substitute teaching permit. Not really a big deal.
