Pros

lots of good people work for Jones support staff at headquarters very helpful can be your own boss

Cons

how office locations are picked is laughable for a fortune 500 company, strictly based on asset level in area. not on avg. income, rooftops, avg. cost of housing, traffic flow past office location, or anything else that might make sense. If you start as new advisor/ new location you will starve your first few years unless you can live on a dime. You will be held to the same timetable as another person who took over a large office. Doorknocking works, but if your new/new, plan on doing it first 5 years. Excessive failure rate for new/new. 90+ % should be unacceptable and corrections should be taken. Never start new/new there are easier ways to make it with Jones

Pros

Jones has never once lied or disguised truths. If you will work for 12-14 hrs a day for about 5-7 yrs, you'll become a financially independent. Their researchers and money mgmt team are second to none, and you'll almost never go wrong even if you just sit around recommending what they tell you to. The training is #1 in the industry, and the pride in the position is abundant.

Cons

If you think for even a second that you might not be cut out for sales, please do not take this job. The first year salary runs out quickly and the fear in your heart at the end of the day (from not knowing where the next month is coming from) is very real and heavy. The trips around the world, the highly paid advisors, the highly compensated limited partnertship--it's all real, but it's a distant, distant, goal. The reality is that your first several years will be long, grueling, and scary. I'm sure when you got to the other side, you'd say it was worth it, but getting to that other side is a big chance to take.
