Pros

This is really a position that allows you full autonomy within a structured environment. You decide how to run the business but you also take full responsibility for success or failure. You are set up with a mentor and trainor and you have continuous contact with other colleagues.

Cons

Very competitive and high turnover both from people quitting and being let go. You must deliver the goods or you are out. You must build your business from scratch by knocking on doors and asking for business. If you get kicked out, the non-compete agreement keeps any clients you got at Edward Jones with another rep. If you can manage to stick around a few years you should be ok.

There are no downsides, if you're the personality type who enjoys being challenging yourself and pushing yourself to be successful.
