Pros

So let me tell you in all depends on the FA you work for. My recommendation is when you go to the interview make sure you feel them out and find out what keel their office is. They're ranked from 1-10 and it's based on assets managed. The higher the level the busier it will be and the better the bonus. Also depending on the area you might get offered great pay. For me they actually offered me more than I was making at my last job which was already okay for what I was doing. Days go by fast. My FA is very sweet and generous.

Cons

Technology we work with is a bit old but they're working to fix that. Slowly lol. The medical and dental could be better.

BOA

Pros

If you get in with the right Financial Advisor it can ve an enjoyable job. Many BOAs are extremely dedicated and are treated well. Then there is the other side of the coin. Unfortunately my advisor was arrogant, short tempered, at times somewhat incoherent in explaining things, and very self absorbed. Long time BOAs can also make it difficult to learn as they can feel threatened by new BOAs.

Cons

In my case the Advisor was really a high pressure salesman who put his best interest above that of clients, particularly elderly clients. He did not like to be asked questions and didnt hesitate to exaggerate and literally tell people he could promise them a certain level of return on their investment.

Pros

4 years with Jones and couldn't be happier in any way. Was it tough getting started? Yes, but so is starting out in any other business where you are your own boss. Is financial services for the faint of heart? No because it will surprise and frustrate you every day. You have to really ask yourself if you are capable of asking for someone to trust you with their retirement savings. No, this business is not for everyone but if you stick with it, follow the Jones plan, don't overthink the process or try to reinvent the wheel you will be just fine. This business takes a deep personal commitment to your communication with your clients. If you cannot see yourself asking someone for their business and their trust then don't bother applying.

Cons

Asking people you don't know to trust you with their retirement savings is weird at best. Door knocking sucks, but it separates those who really want this career from those who aren't willing to do something that makes them uncomfortable.
