Fellow employees are great, managed by ineptitude

Pros

* Fellow employees are great * 401k is decent * PTO is generous * Encouraged community engagement

Cons

* Most departments are highly insular, collaboration for lower level employees is not looked at well. * Management should be called “manglement”; they are inept, incapable of making long term strategies that pull their departments, and therefore the site out of firefighting mode. * As with many corporations, the higher ups have favorites, and you know if you are not on the list. * Promotions are rarely proven skill set and leadership movements, but problematic, unqualified people being moved into different positions because discontent has grown too loud. * Training is sub par, and a root cause of many of the constant issues. * Pay is low for the industry. * Retaliation up to, and including termination happens, despite heavy company lip service to the contrary. * Punitive sick leave policy: have a total of 5 sick days in a calendar year? The door is open to be fired.

Pros

Great company, fascinating growth opportunities, good culture with the company overall, just pockets of problematic culture. Amazing benefits. Some fantastic individuals on the tax team with unbelievable technical knowledge.

Cons

Unfortunately the tax department is probably the most dysfunctional group in the entire company. HR has had multiple individuals raise flags of inappropriate and unethical behavior and no serious action is taken. Within the last year, there has been 60% turnover globally, mostly isolated to US cultural issues driving this number, with over 80% turnover in a single year. One person actually left in less than a month. Additionally, HR based overseas will partake in bad faith salary negotiations, including lying about max pay and offer no remedy to correct this.
