Pros

The benefits structure is great. Medical insurance is awesome, great stock purchasing and 401k. As others have said, our CEO is not big on telecommuting and the we have been informed that evaluations to make Many of the WAH staff come into the office is underway. Most managers at Anthem are very forward looking, valued feedback and is very encouraging. My current boss, is not. She is very traditional, a micromanager and her attitude leaves much to desire but she is definitely an outlier. But the good news is that the company advocates for its associates to look for new opportunities within the company after being on the job for a year. Gym reimbursement is awesome and Anthem has one of the most liberal tuition reimbursement programs I have ever seen at an employer.

Cons

Anthem has never really treated their WAH associates with the respect they deserve. You pay for your own internet access, most managers are ok, but Anthem really needs to demand conformity and collaboration from all its managers. While the health insurance is pretty go (HMO is available to almost half of its plans) it’s dental and its vision coverage leaves Much to be desired.. I often pay at least $110 every two years for my glasses. The stripping of WAH when most competitors are switching to the WAH environment is very troubling and will lead to some great talent going elsewhere...

No more work at home

Pros

Historically i have enjoyed the work at home flexibility and have been willing to sacrifice some job mobility and salary for this flexibility.

Cons

Virtually all finance and actuarial associates are being required to report to an office if their commute is 60 minutes or less. This turns a 45 hour full time job into a 55 hour job - plus the cost of transportation.

Pros

Great people and co-workers. Good Bonus when the company does well.

Cons

Used to be a great place to work remotely and any where from US but with introduction of HUB cities you are forced to move to those towns.
