Pros

A progressive employer, with a worthy mission. By far the largest Pro is the team. People are welcoming and they have made great steps towards reducing aggression and bad behaviour in the workplace. Teams are well motivated and collaborative. Since the change in CEO, Elsevier has changed significantly for the better as a place to work. On balance, a great place to work.

Cons

There is still work to do. Some of the new initiatives are managed by people who caused them. Whilst there have been many positive changes, the bad apples are still around. Their unprofessional behaviour and relentless self-focus still needs challenging. There is still discrimination and unconscious bias, though it's absolutely moving in the right direction.

Pros

Great international environment Respectful and interesting colleagues A lot of flexibility with working from home Corporate responsibility and social engagement A great place to work for long time without any major problem

Cons

Work is split among too many teams in a way that it is easy to lose the bigger picture or to understand how your own small part makes a difference Salary increases for internal moves are very small in comparison to external hires.
