Pros

Few peer coworkers and others had worked with. Glad a few of them are still there to hopefully pull Elsevier through their struggles.

Cons

Corporate games, lack of mission, lost mission to put out quality products before taking to market and using customers to express their pain points.

No one's in charge

Pros

401k match is unprecedented. PTO is liberal.

Cons

Complete disconnect between Sr. Mgmt and the 'boots on the ground'. Sr. Mgmt is too busy micro managing instead of communicating strategy and goals to get there. Cost savings opportunities are 'suggestions' and people are laid off instead of working smarter. Everything is ambiguous...and VPs are afraid to put a stake in the ground. People are not rewarded for successes. They bring in new people who try implementing things that didn't work just a couple years prior....No transfer of knowledge.

Miserable work, great co-workers

Pros

Most of the people are great. There are activities sometimes, and food. There's a Foosball table to distract people.

Cons

Poor upper management decisions from Amsterdam. Regular breakdown in communication between departments. No recognition or appreciation for huge workload. Little to no training across at least two separate systems. Inefficient workflow, communication, and cooperation between departments. Unreasonable expectations from sales, who have no idea how any processes actually work, and always get their way. The job's only saving grace were the fellow sufferers on the account support team because the pay wasn't worth it.
