Most colleagues are good people, a lot of them have been there a long time.

Cons

Poor leadership, very short sighted with very little vision. Stuck in past business models that are becoming obsolete.

Graduate scheme not what they sell it as - but still a good package

Kidlington office has free gym, decent canteen, flexible hours, some very good teams, friendly environment, social people, good package

Cons

Bad management in a lot of teams, graduate scheme is not what it's sold to be, little to no coding, 'software engineer' post means 'assistant' for a lot of graduates

Pros

Good relationship with the Publisher, some very good technical backup, good reviewer database

Cons

Elsevier is a juggernaut and they try to make all journals fit the same format. They outsource support to India. They launched a new online publishing platform before it was ready for use, many problems.
