Pros

all the benefits of a large organisation, e.g. health and safety, pension scheme and international colleagues

Cons

career progression too much based on pre-defined targets and quantifiable target measurements, struggling to reward efforts beneficial to the business which don't fit exactly within remit of these targets or are more difficult to quantify, i.e. it doesn't reward it at all or structure is resistant and slow to do so, perhaps due to multiple management layers, all with their own rigid targets, etc.

Pros

Elsevier has a lot of smart people, working very hard, doing something they believe in and care about. The resources available to the company, the thought leadership, and the industry leadership are a powerful mix.The transformation to a data and analytics company, in growth markets, is well underway.

Cons

Elsevier has a very academic approach to decision-making that can drown innovation at times. Industry leadership also means the company. There are also a couple of functions that need dragging into the digital age.

Terrible management team, no organized training, changed strategy from time to time, and put you work overtime often without payment
