Pros

Free food. 37.5 hour work week. Lots of benefit options (but they come at a very high price). If you stick with it, the 401K match is quite good.

Cons

Open office plan is terrible. VERY gossipy environment. Too much micromanagement. Benefits are quite expensive. Rules are inconsistently applied. Newbie leaders well out of their league. The 401K plan administrator has poor options and high fees - consider switching to a real 401K plan administrator.

We appreciate receiving your review. With open-plan office, our employees have noticed increased collaborations and more relationship-building interactions. We recently conducted an employee benefits survey earlier this year and compared our overall package to what is offered by our comparators. We found that our medical plan benefits were a little below what is offered in the marketplace by our comparators, and we are making changes in 2020 to improve the RELX contribution towards our health and wellness plans. We will continue to make improvements over the next few years.

Pros

The people you work with and depending on location, a good office culture.

Cons

Cost cutting to fund poor Leadership strategy and vision. Being efficient and having streamlined workflow led to layoffs for the efficient groups while those who chose not to be efficient were rewarded by keeping their jobs. There was definitely a good ole' boy mentality that was fostered.

Pros

Not a lot of micro managing. Good vacation and 401k benefits. Flexibility for time off. Get to work with educators and students.

Cons

Elsevier is way behind it's competitors technology wise. Rolled out two software products that didn't work. Not up to speed with the delivery of content. Salary extremely low. Compensation plan is terrible. Medical benefits go up a lot every year. Not a lot of advancement
