There are some really amazing people there that are kind, smart, and dedicated. Also, lunch every Friday.
Cons
The CEO
The tiny space in which they shoved so many of us.
Being led by leaders that have no knowledge of the department they are leading.
The inability of the company to keep employees.
The people are excellent. Every department is staffed with incredibly talented people who come up with creative ways to work with each other to get their jobs done. The dev manager is a great manager who shields devs from as much of the storm from above as he can while supporting and encouraging professional development.
Cons
All of the cons come down to empowerment. The CEO refuses to give up control of even the most trivial decisions and further cannot articulate what he wants. There are always excuses made as to why now isn't the right time to let anyone else have authority. Every department must get approval from the CEO for some routine tasks.
Technical leadership had poor understanding of design patterns and higher level engineering concepts. Worse is the unwillingness to let go of the steering column for even the smallest of tasks along with the always-delayed need to reduce code complexity.
Company insisted they couldn't afford better pay, yet unwilling to negotiate on terms of more vacation or flex-time.
