Pros

Wonderful students A very nice campus

Cons

The college of aviation leadership was unprofessional in their work, and incurious regarding the current state of the aviation and airline industry, faculty and staff. Leadership did not seem to care about providing guidance to professors, minimal effort expended on communication and support, nor did they care about the quality of education delivered to the students. As a result, there was a revolving door of professors who quit during the last five or six years. This, like everything else, was not a concern to leadership, and as a result, many aviation students do not graduate on time.

Pros

- I suppose benefits were okay

Cons

I do not even know where to begin. - Parking on campus is an absolute nightmare. - There is absolutely no accountability for workers. - Directors literally cried about their workload and whined till they were allowed to pass the job onto someone else or hire an admin. Why hire these people as Directors? They clearly are incapable of completing their responsibilities. - A staff employee will get nominated for a "Service Excellence" award, but they shouldn't. They do not know their responsibilities and basically cry through the management chain till someone just says "Okay, we'll handle it for you". - Atmosphere is toxic and so is the culture. Signs of a toxic job: 1) You're constantly overworked, underpaid and your well-being is taking a major hit 2) High rate of employee turnover (huge issue here) 3)Tolerates any type discrimination 4) Majority of employees are burnt out or have extremely low morale 5) Workplace with passive aggressive communication as its primary communication (because no one wants to do their jobs properly) - Do not apply. Nothing makes it worth working there and being treated unprofessionally. And I mean everyone. Department Chairs, Deans, Faculty and Staff.....

Pros

Decent benefits options, great retirement, almost endless professional development opportunities, great schedule options.

Cons

The non-monetary benefits (insurance, amenities, professional development, schedule flexibility, etc.) are sometimes the only reason to stay. The salary alone is not sufficient to support an individual, let alone a family. Most employees work multiple jobs if they don't have other retirement or pensions coming in, and the University Administration will not acknowledge that fact. The AZ campus is entirely micromanaged and run from the FL campus, often without consultation or consideration. Facilities are old and cramped. There is a clear bias in resources distributed toward the FL campus versus the AZ campus. Just Google pictures and compare the two, and you'll see the difference in quality. Better yet, if you can tour both campuses, you'll see it firsthand. There are not enough classrooms and dorms for students, offices for faculty, or space in general from neglect and poor planning. Upper-management has a "shut up and color" mentality, and dismiss any collaboration or discussions for improvement. The President, Provost, Board of Trustees are all located in Florida, and the President only comes the the AZ campus for graduation and maybe a couple meetings a year. Extremely unclear expectations for tenure and promotion are causing severe morale issues that are driving faculty out. Very poor communication from leadership leads to an almost unlimited supply of bad decisions. This company entirely relies on their reputation to carry them through everything.

Pros

Flexibility: Working as a courier offered great flexibility in terms of scheduling. I had the opportunity to choose between full-time or part-time hours, and often had the ability to set my own schedule within the parameters of the job requirements. This flexibility allowed for a better work-life balance and catered to individual preferences. Independence: As a courier, I enjoyed a high level of independence in my work. Once assigned a route or delivery, I had the freedom to plan my own route, manage my time effectively, and make decisions on the go. This autonomy empowered me to take ownership of my responsibilities and deliver packages efficiently. Physical Activity: The courier job involved physical activity and movement throughout the day. This aspect appealed to me as it provided an opportunity for regular exercise and staying active while on the job. It helped me maintain a healthy lifestyle and avoid a sedentary work environment. Varied Work Environment: Being a courier exposed me to various locations and diverse customer interactions. Every day brought new challenges and opportunities to explore different neighborhoods or areas. This dynamic work environment kept the job interesting and prevented monotony.

Cons

Time Pressure: Working as a courier often meant adhering to strict time constraints and meeting delivery deadlines. This time pressure could be demanding, especially during peak hours or when facing unexpected traffic or weather conditions. Meeting delivery expectations within the given time frames could be stressful at times. Weather Challenges: Regardless of weather conditions, couriers are expected to fulfill their delivery responsibilities. This meant working outdoors in extreme temperatures, rain, snow, or other challenging weather situations. Adapting to such conditions and ensuring the safety of oneself and the packages required extra effort and resilience. Customer Interactions: While most customer interactions were positive, there were occasional encounters with difficult or dissatisfied customers. Handling customer complaints or addressing issues on the spot required patience, effective communication, and conflict resolution skills. Dealing with challenging customers could be emotionally draining and required the ability to remain professional and composed. Job Security: The courier industry can be subject to fluctuations and changes in demand. Economic factors or shifts in business needs may impact the stability of the job. Some courier roles may be contractual or seasonal, leading to potential periods of uncertainty or reduced hours. This lack of long-term job security should be considered.

Pros

Very put together, organized and mostly efficient in communication.

Cons

Some of the lead pilots give a condescending atmosphere around them instead of making their other coworkers feel level with them.
