Pros

Good starter job to get into a large company. Company car, independence to set up your schedule.

Cons

long hours, weekend work, on call, management could give a crap about you as a Field Tech. The pay starts out lower then most other UPS companies like Eaten, or APC. Other UPS companies give there employees sales commissions Emerson does not. They have a point system that is very inadequate like $100,000 in sales will get you a PlayStation 3. Third party sales companies get all the money from any sale even though you did all the leg work. They are not willing to pay people enough to keep them, witch leads to techs having to travel outside of your area to support lost employees in different areas. They roll out new programs and units without proper testing and they fail for the first 2 years until someone gets their head out of their ^$$. No one gets fired unless you are in the field.

Pros

I had perks such as a company car that could be driven for any purpose and would be using "free" gas. Something else I really like is that they still have a pension. I've never felt bored in this job there's always more learning to be done. My coworkers are great to work with.

Cons

Promotions really happen because of time in the same field not so much value of the employee. Leadership doesn't keep employees well because the pay raises don't come as fast as they should to keep up with the market. No incentives to work harder really.

Pros

competitive salaries, get to travel in interesting places and middle of nowhere.

Cons

we get sent on a job without enough training. Also there is lack of employee commitment.
