Pros

Work/life balance is better than average

Cons

Short-term thinking during downturns. Will do anything to keep profitability from dropping without regard for the long-term consequences for the company or employee happiness. Froze pension in 2015 for young employees, taking away a benefit that they had signed on for, and did not backpay for previous years of service now worth little. This has left most of those affected no longer loyal to Emerson and morale precariously low. Compensation is below average. Annual increase is limited to 2.5% to 3%. Raises are monetarily insignificant (6% to 9%). Minimal profit sharing in McKinney ($500 per year max). Vacation is only one week for first year even for experienced individuals coming from jobs having 3+ weeks. No extra maternity or paternity leave. Health insurance has high premiums and many common items are not covered. Emerson significantly values inexperienced MBA’s for management positions over experienced employees. The large percentage of inexperienced individuals churning through management positions and then quickly moving up has created a host of issues. Emerson places very little value in an employee becoming an expert in a field as compensation is driven by changing positions.

Pros

Stable because he product sells itself. Is only good for Emerson and other stake holders.

Cons

If you want to earn under $100k for the rest of your life. This is the place for you. If you like to pat yourself on the back for being part of a non-cutting edge organization, this place is for you. The company is full of non-driven employees who settle and have low expectations of their career. Low pay. Poor raises. This company doesn't value previous experience. They look for individuals in a jam and paint a completely different picture for future advancement than reality to get them to take the position. Then once the employee has realized the realities of the company, they can't just quit because they look like a job-hopper. Also, no marketable skills are built so good luck finding another job. This place is a trap! They have managers with only associate degrees over individuals with vastly superior degrees and abilities. Getting anywhere there is more about ass kissing and time there than ability and achievements. Extremely poor pay that they think is extremely great. No clue how these guys live in Boulder on this pay. This isn't a true sales position. Poor place to work. No 401k match. No stock options. Save yourself and stay away!! Incompetent HR staff.
