Not much opportunity for women, LGBQT folks or progressives, in general. Lots of associal, strangely, behaving male engineers work here. The benefits leave much to be desired. I wasn't allowed to take a single vacation day until I worked more than one year. I was told that vacation is only for two weeks and is non-negotiable. I found out that male employees and foreign national employees were allowed to negotiate up to five weeks vacation.

For being an Austin-based tech company, Emerson has some catching up to do in terms of culture. Values tend to be old-fashioned and conservative, which is good in some ways, but a challenge in others, especially to younger folks.
