Small Company Mentality, Corporate Politics

Pros

Fast paced environment, booming industry, high quality products, lean and efficient processes. Plenty of growth potential and management encourages inter-departmental transfers.

Cons

Management objectives sometimes unclear. Also, more corporate politics than any other organization I've worked for. Also, as much as a team environment is essential in this kind of business, the various departments don't work as cohesively as they should (more finger pointing and politics than necessary).

Pros

Great benefits, co-workers & environment. Depending on which office you work for, Emerson is very generous to their employees! Anyone would love to work for this company. This is one company that I can say is loyal to their employees

Cons

You can be held back from growth if you are not an office spy or kissing up to your manager. Some of their managers are not trained on ethics and could use more training to better run their office.

Pros

Company is extremely driven and focused on operational excellence and maximizing profit. Best routes to advancement are through Sales/Marketing (driving profit through price and sales) and Supply Chain/Operations (driving profit through lowering product input costs and inventory levels). You will learn outstanding principles for running a business for maximum profit.

Cons

If you are not 100% focused on and motivated by generating maximum performance and maximum profit you may not find a lot job satisfaction here. Hitting your numbers and continuously improving them quarter after quarter is the singular objective here. If you are looking for touchy feely "softer" rewards from your work, look elsewhere.....
