Pros

Stable company with a long proven industrial background.

Cons

The industrial basis and offering becoming a commodity in this market. Further, the acquired companies have continued to operate in silo's long after their respective due dates - making the whole company less than the individual acquired parts.

Pros

Emerson generally tends to be a place where your contribution is valued and desired. Inventorship on patents is generously rewarded and pay in general is considered good by industry standards.

Cons

Emerson has not been a place, however, of much upward mobility, at least in engineering. The tendency is to increase your workload and responsibility without any adjustment to title or pay grade. This is especially true when dividing up the responsibilities of someone who leaves among those remaining instead of hiring a replacement. They care less about their employees welfare where customer is more important

Pros

Good starter job to get into a large company. Company car, independence to set up your schedule.

Cons

long hours, weekend work, on call, management could give a crap about you as a Field Tech. The pay starts out lower then most other UPS companies like Eaten, or APC. Other UPS companies give there employees sales commissions Emerson does not. They have a point system that is very inadequate like $100,000 in sales will get you a PlayStation 3. Third party sales companies get all the money from any sale even though you did all the leg work. They are not willing to pay people enough to keep them, witch leads to techs having to travel outside of your area to support lost employees in different areas. They roll out new programs and units without proper testing and they fail for the first 2 years until someone gets their head out of their ^$$. No one gets fired unless you are in the field.
