Pros

Good flexibility with time and allowed for good work/life balance. People are helpful and try and show you the ropes. A lot of your coworkers are very very smart and know what it is they're doing. You will learn a lot here and it will test your knowledge consistently. There is some travel required for most major positions so you do get to see some places. Lot's of training and lots of opportunity for continued education within the company.

Cons

Old school way of management. Everything is based on seniority and anything and everything needs to be approved no matter how little the change is. It will have to go through multiple levels. There is no real company culture as it varies from department to department so you never get a sense of how the company really is. The engineers have a big air of arrogance to them... so if you're not in that department, you're considered beneath them... not smart enough and not good enough.

Pros

It looks good on your resume if you list your time under Emerson Climate Technologies instead.

Cons

Absolutely terrible leadership in operations and manufacturing. All the bosses hide upstairs. They don't make decisions, you can never find them when you need them, and then they point the finger at the lower level employees when something goes wrong. All the talented people stick around for 2 years or less and then leave.

Pros

The Florham Park, NJ location was an excellent place to work, full of vibrant and competent engineers and managers who wanted you to succeed.

Cons

My boss was seriously chauvinistic, to the point where it became clear my gender was going to prohibit advancement. I repeatedly introduced ideas that were shot down, only to be adopted when suggested by a male colleague.
