Pros

Work-life balance and flexibility are my favorite things about Empire. The culture and environment are fun, and the people are friendly; lots of employees have been at the company for 10+ years, which you don't see too much of anymore. Huge opportunities for career growth and that growth is encouraged and welcomed - I have seen more people be hired internally to open positions at Empire than any other job I've worked at. It is hard work at times, things can get hectic, but it's ultimately a pretty fun and interesting job, especially if you enjoy this industry.

Cons

Compensation could be more competitive for positions that aren't warehouse or sales-related. Benefits are, in my opinion, the bare minimum for a corporate environment, and many benefits don't truly come into fruition until you've been at the company for 2-5 years. Health care benefits are all high deductible plans (though the HSA contributions do help some, it's not much). PTO is, IMHO, minimal unless you've been at the company for 6+ years and Maternity/Paternity leave is basically nil. The size of the company and its markets can make it challenging to keep up at times. Better communication, processes and structure would benefit the company.

its easy because its horrible hours, dangerous work, and the only people who stay are trapped.

Thank you for your feedback. At Empire our culture of safety is of the utmost importance to us. We take very seriously any situation that our employees feel are dangerous, and encourage them to communicate with the leadership team if they feel they are working in a dangerous environment. We have an escalation process through our Safety Team and Teammate Resources if any employee feels they can not go to a direct supervisor or manager.
