Pros

This place would defiantly hire just about anyone. I worked there for almost one year.

Cons

Recently, the main boss of the place was fired. The guy with the job that required a degree. There was this one day where he had a bunch of people voluntarily come in on a Saturday morning to fix their inventory problem. However, nobody knew how to use their scanners & they ended up deleting like half the inventory out of the system. So, from there, they got so behind on their orders that they never could quite recover. Then, a couple weeks later, people from the corporate headquarters in from Massachusetts and fired the main boss. They came in & tried fixing everything by yelling & firing people. I really hate that this happened. He was going to make the place a 24/7 location. & he had many great ideas. Sadly, he spent too much time behind his desk, didn't really know his crew & the ship sank. This all happened around August 2015. The night shift manager quit too. This place is full of angry miserable leads/management. You get cussed at & yelled at every single day.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review, and I would like to apologize for the delayed response. After working for us for one year, we are sorry to hear that this unfortunate situation may have altered your perception of what we strive for at 1A Auto. We take pride in the satisfaction of all our employees, so I am disappointed to hear about your experience. Professionalism and internal communication are essential at all levels. In any case, we believe there is always room for growth and improvement, and we will continue to push forward on those as well. Thank you again for your feedback. – Gayle Lang, HR Director, 1A Auto GLang@1aauto.com

Pros

Ability to remote in from home

Cons

At the start of the COVID 19 pandemic the company hit a historic slow during normal busy season. There was a mass company meeting where they told us we would all be okay, and we would all pull through this together as a “family”. Two days later there were mass PERMANENT layoffs across the board. It didn’t matter if you had been there 10+ years, if you were a consistent performer, if you had never had a write up, or never been on a “personal improvement plan” for failing to meet company standards. They took the COVID 19 pandemic as an opportunity to clean house, to heck with people’s lives, families and livelihoods. Then instead of rehiring any of the 40+ people they laid off, they left all those people hanging out to dry and hired new staff. Outside of their “family like” response to COVID 19, the company is an internal mess. No one has the same answer to any question, and for years guidance from upper management was lacking overall. Promotions are issued on the basis of favoritism and popularity, not performance or seniority. They would rather keep top performers at the bottom, where they can keep up their assembly line approach to customer service and pump out phone calls and emails, rather than let them move up the ranks within the company and grow professionally. Internal goals, policies, and procedures change and flip flop so often it’s a wonder no one has ended up with whiplash. HR has a history of completely messing up employees insurance plans upon permanent hire. There were multiple incidents where people with medical conditions were misadvised about their plans and coverage and had to go without their insulin or specialist care until “open enrollment” reopened for the year. They are also scamming customers by selling the same parts under 2 entities and purposefully providing subpar customer service for one company to push customers to the other where they will have to pay more for the same janky parts. If you are looking for a trip down the rabbit hole where up is down and nothin makes sense, this may be the company for you. If you are looking for stability, security, and growth, it would be in your best interest to apply elsewhere.
