A general atmosphere of distrust and animosity.
As a salesperson, you are expected to work 50+ hours a week and then some Saturday mornings. Look at the contract, it is right there. No paid leave for the first year and then only one week after that, if you can figure out how to take it. You are not paid for the few holidays either. Doesn't matter since you are essentially paid on commission.
You must be at the office first and last thing of the day, so there is no way to prospect during those times. You also had to input all your own orders at the office, impossible to do this from the field nor was there an inside sales person. There was a new "system" promised the entire year I was there, but no sign of it.
Cannot believe the antiquated systems they operate with- the ordering system is just waiting for you to miss something. Then, the attitude of blaming-the-culprit takes charge.
They expect and emphasize collections over everything, including dealing with customer problems. All billing payments went to the corporate office so we had no idea when a remittance went in even though it would show up on our receivable report- and we were expected to harass the customer about it. Horrible system and inefficient.
So little is spent on maintaining just the basic necessities that the branches look crummy. Even the smallest expense has to be run through corporate, who nit-pick these. They expect the staff to house- keep instead of running the business.
