Toxic Management at the SVP level - Account Executive A+E Networks Employee Review

Pros

The pay was good, but not worth the mental toll. Benefit packages were good too - better than some of the big legacy media brands.

Cons

For starters, the product offerings and abilities to keep up with what is happening in the industry are just not there. Collectively mental health declines were the only things that seemed to be growing at that company. SVPs were nasty to AEs (and even planners) and constantly belittling and micro-managing, not motivating or problem solving collaboratively. Several people have left for mental health reasons, and even taken paycuts + lateral jobs just to get out.

Pros

I worked on the Content Creation team which is primarily made up of contract employees. Work is remote, but plenty of opportunities to get together in office and meet other people and socialize afterwards. Everyone on the team is great to work with, there are efficient systems in place and it is a well-oiled machine! I've done two contract rounds with them and am looking forward to my next one.

Cons

No opportunities to convert from contract to staff. There are a lot of things that aren't available to contract employees that are only available to staff (certain meetings, resources, etc). Contract employees are limited to 18 months, and then are required to take a year off.

Pros

Some very nice people; had good benefits although those are being cut back because of financial uncertainty

Cons

Fading industry, frequent layoff cycles with hints of more to come, the company is trying to innovate but some divisions are slow to modernize other than throwing around silly talking points at meetings.
