Pros

Free coffee Sometimes there are bananas Free spectacular view of Seattle Sometimes free lunch Work from home possibly

Cons

Unless you are part of senior management, you are on your own. Senior management is fully committed to the hierarchy they have built and maintaining the status quo. If you enjoy that kind of office politics and you like climbing pyramids, you can cut your teeth here. If you are looking for support from your manager, you may find it, but more likely you won't. It's more likely your manager is too busy fighting for the scraps left by their managers and their manager's managers. You'll have fun with your peers, because there are a lot of fun people at the company. But in the end, you'll probably spend most of your time playing musical chairs with your supervisors and your job duties. Guaranteed your priorities will be handed to you and then rescinded and reconfigured every other quarter. Senior management does not care what you think. You are paid to hold them up on the shoulders of your hard work.

Thank you for your comments and we are glad to hear that you value the many fun people at A Place for Mom. We pride ourselves on creating both a culture and roles within the organization that truly make a difference in the lives of families in their search for a senior living solution for their parent or loved one. In addition, we aspire to have a working environment where employees can grow personally within the organization or gain experience that will help them in the future. As part of this culture, all employees should have defined goals and key areas of responsibility that ladder up to our company mission and values (realizing, of course, that strategies are not static). We expect all employees and managers to have an engaging two-way relationship. This includes an annual goals discussion, semi-annual reviews and regular connections where you are discussing your work priorities, performance and career ambitions. In addition to the direct relationship with your manager, we also encourage employees to have skip level one-on-ones on occasion. Beyond this, if you do not feel as though you are getting good direction, you may communicate directly to the HR team, contact the CEO by direct email or submit your thoughts via our suggestion box or anonymous hotline. We encourage you to take one of these actions so that we can address your specific concerns.

The role allowed me to help families during important and emotional decisions.

Cons

It was difficult to stay motivated when the pressure kept increasing especially when balancing compassion for families with demanding targets.
