Pros

Honestly, I can’t think of any pros to working for this organization anymore, other than a consistent paycheck. If you can call it that—this company significantly undervalues their employees pay and experience level.

Cons

Prospective employees beware- they pitch a great sales game. Don’t join this company if you remotely have a heart for helping people. Where does this start? I can agree completely with the other reviewers. I once loved working for this company- though I can’t say this anymore. They don’t listen to suggestions from their employees, don’t understand their own industry (and seemingly are not willing to understand from those who work first hand- thus adopting a superior attitude). The company is completely 100% sales focused instead of focusing on their values of “the noble mission of senior living”. There’s nothing noble about this company. The quotas are unrealistic, and the focus is on the sale rather than genuinely helping the person and/or family. The idea and mission behind the company is wonderful- it’s a shame they don’t embody it or appreciate their employees.

A Place for Mom Response

Thanks for your feedback. A Place for Mom tremendously values all our employees and their opinions, but we will continue to be guided first and foremost by the thousands of families who have communicated their gratitude to us for providing free help in their time of need. Our mission to help families by offering free help from a local Senior Living Advisor has not changed since A Place for Mom was founded. As a for-profit business, we do drive revenue to continue to fund our mission, but we earn money through our partners, and never charge a family to use our service. We have always been free to families. As the company moves forward, it is these principles that will continue to direct our business towards the goal of helping families. We value your feedback and as a current employee, we encourage you to talk with your manager and/or Human Resources so we can continue to improve and be a great place to work. If you prefer, we have a 24/7 anonymous hotline available to all employees to report any concerns. This hotline is hosted by an outside company and the anonymous feedback is provided to A Place for Mom for review. A Place for Mom responds back to the hotline with additional information and the outside company then sends on communication to the employee to maintain anonymity. The hotline can be found on the HR site and the in the employee handbook.
