Pros

Underwriting is great if you are a top personal producer. As mentioned, the pay was very good in the beginning but......

Cons

Top management in the Northern CA club does not have a clue how to run the life insurance side. In 8 years, they have changed compensation plan for life agents 7 times --- at the expense of their agents. Meanwhile, hiring middle managers in their district office to supervise life agents. These managers does not even have any experience selling life insurance and most of them does not even have a life license. When they see their top life agents make a lot of bonus commission, they re-structure the comp plan immediately so life agents do not make more than the president and CEO of the club.

Pros

Depending on the position… Monday-Friday, partial remote work. Snacks in office in all break rooms. Some departments feel like a family and that they care about you which is nice. If you get into a good department, you feel like you’re heard and appreciated.

Cons

Management in some departments are absolutely terrible. They play favorites, and target those who they don’t like. You can go from being an exceptional employee to the dirt on their shoes real quick and you’ll know it. Upper management ask for anon feedback, but nothing changes. A lot of departments feel like a call center, and other departments expect you to do a ton of work while taking a ton of calls. If you don’t keep your numbers, which is hard to do, you’re in trouble
