Pros

Great benefits that are reasonable and also includes disability insurance and great options for retirement.

Cons

If you come to the AAMC with a job that you are satisfied with, good on you, but if you want to ever be promoted --- make sure that your friend works here, otherwise, you are out of luck. I have worked here for a number of years and have watched people move into positions that they do not have qualifications for because they called in a favor. When they leave that position or get promoted out of it, the next applicant for the position is asked to jump through 20 hoops, have 17 bullet points and go through a series of interviews, if you are lucky enough to get one as an internal candidate and then told they do not meet the qualifications. This contributes to the low morale and is uneven across the association. Many managers are able to get away with promoting individuals while others are told there are no funds for promotion and HR signs off on promotions that are often ridiculous -- for example, 23 year old that came into the association with a Bachelors degree as an admin is 5 years later promoted 3 times and is currently a director still with a Bachelors degree. Where does that happen? HERE.
