Pros
The organization has a lot of smart and passionate individuals who are excited about making an impact in medical education.
Cons
It's an incredibly political top-down environment where poorly informed leadership drives decisions that stifle creativity and productivity. There exists a system of favortism which enables unqualified employees to rise within the organization while, at the same time, discourages and suppresses those who have and can show value. The organization is saying that it is looking to transform but the actions of leaders within organization portrays the exact opposite. I am utterly dismayed with AAMC and cannot see progress with the way things stand now. As long you are friendly with someone in authority you can get away with anything. I will not advise or refer someone to join AAMC. All this talk of career growth and development is pointless since neither the culture nor environment exists to suppprt that.
