      Not worth the headaches - Inside Sales Representative ABF Freight Employee Review

      Pros

      Decent pay and nice people.

      Cons

      The company is run by people who have been there forever and are blind to what the rest of the industry is doing causing ABF to be further and further behind the competition. The best talent at ABF realizes this after a couple years and moves on to greener pastures, leaving the second team management group running the show. As for Inside Sales, avoid this place like the plague. The promise you bonuses, advancement within the company, etc. However, the company is never profitable so you will never see a bonus check. Advancement? Forget about it, the rest of the company thinks inside sales is a joke and good luck moving on to another department unless you are juiced in from the inside.

      Pros

      Low stress environment. No cost Healthcare benefits. An amazing Defined Benifit Pension. Terrific Company to work for.

      Cons

      Working on a cold dock in the Winter with do doors. Some workers that don’t appreciate the benifits of working under a Teamster contract.

      Pros

      Pay is best in the business. $100,000+ first year as a road driver. Year two I made $107,000… and took two months off for cancer surgery. Year three I made $129,000. I average 2-3 nights per week in a hotel. Usually only 1 night out then back home the next day. Frequently running turns (home at end of the run). Insurance is free and EXCELLENT coverage. I paid $1,000 total out-of-pocket for cancer surgery.

      Cons

      Not much life/work balance. Frustrating spending time on the extra board waiting to get a call to go to work, but with more seniority you get less wait time.
