      Pros

      Pay is good, healthcare benefits are excellent.

      Cons

      Hey Ft. Smith your touch labor employees are an asset, not a liability like you seem to think. When I started as a Road Driver 17 years ago this was a good company to work for, run by people that knew the industry, respected their employees & understood that this job is NOT the center of the universe. ABF Freight is a company run by accountants, who despise the drivers (right Judy?) & expect you to dedicate your every waking minute to the company.

      Pros

      Low stress environment. No cost Healthcare benefits. An amazing Defined Benifit Pension. Terrific Company to work for.

      Cons

      Working on a cold dock in the Winter with do doors. Some workers that don’t appreciate the benifits of working under a Teamster contract.

      Pros

      Pay is best in the business. $100,000+ first year as a road driver. Year two I made $107,000… and took two months off for cancer surgery. Year three I made $129,000. I average 2-3 nights per week in a hotel. Usually only 1 night out then back home the next day. Frequently running turns (home at end of the run). Insurance is free and EXCELLENT coverage. I paid $1,000 total out-of-pocket for cancer surgery.

      Cons

      Not much life/work balance. Frustrating spending time on the extra board waiting to get a call to go to work, but with more seniority you get less wait time.
