It was OK in the beginning, but as you "advance" the corporation gets nasty. - Center Associate ACE Cash Express Employee Review

Pros

Most coworkers are very nice and easy to get along with. Your in a very secure area. Benefits, vacation and some paid holidays.

Cons

There is no job security. If you fall for one of the hundreds (possibly thousands, depending on employment term) of scams that will be presented to you by your "customers" the company will expect you to reimburse them or they will fire you. It is illegal to say this outright, but every employee knows what will happen if the money doesn't show back up in the store by months end. There are some exceptions, but not many. The worst thing about this is they seldom give you the tools you need to do your job efficiently. Office equipment is consistently breaking down and the software they use for their point of sale systems was terrible when it was designed, but is now 10+ years old. Getting the approval or help from a team lead or district manager is almost impossible most of the time. This is a nationwide corporation which means it is driven by the bottom dollar, so it cuts costs at every turn. If you advance to a center manager position it will seem great at first, until you realize how out of touch the company is with it's employees and clientel. It offers bonuses, but raises the quota everytime you meet it. There are some stores thet keep thier customers waiting for almost an hour just to pay thier loan or cash a check because they refuse to adequately staff the centers. They make you sign a waiver giving up your rights to breaks and lunch in WA. state, then make you work 11-12 hour shifts, then constantly find more things to add to your already over loaded plate. You can NOT leave the secured area. If you are caught outside the secured area for any reason during your shift you are fired. You are expected to sale prepaid debit cards to check cashing customers (4 out of ten must get a card or you are in trouble) including mentally unstable people, then set up thier government benefit checks (which they qualify for because of their mental illness) on direct deposit with this card. And the company that represents the card is HORRIBLE! People go weeks without their funds because of the card companies unwillingness to budge on their idiotic policies and refusal to disclose these policies to employee and customer alike. And when you utilize their "open door" policy to voice your concerns about these things, you are met with "You know, I'm not really feeling that you are being a team player lately, perhaps it's time you move on".

Pros

Always able to get hours, only a few people staffed so not a lot of office politics. Great pay and good benefits

Cons

Not much growth opportunity, and advancement would definitely require relocating if the opportunity ever came. Constant change in bonus and incentive requirements making it difficult to reach goals.
