Pros
The rank-and-file workers and the operational management are some of the best you'll ever work with. People care about building a quality product. Dress is casual, with shorts in summer. Hours are flexible and employees are free to work remotely when it fits with their duties. The work itself was always challenging and rewarding.
Cons
In spite of casual dress, flex time and a devoted staff, ACI has not been "the show" as a workplace since the early 2000s. Every few years brings a new wave of top managers with a new set of ideas on how to do things better, some of them quite wrong and disruptive to the people who are trying to do the work. At one time there was a quite active strategy of laying off expensive senior employees in the U.S. and hiring people in cheaper markets to replace them. Even though the current management has professed a different philosophy, there has been only token hiring of developers in Omaha since the great newbee drives of the 1990s. Their sometime flagship product, BASE24-eps, has had disappointing sales, so I'm afraid the recent wave of layoffs in that area is only the beginning.
