Pros
Some really brilliant, self less people who work day in day out to keep the ship afloat. Those people are extremely low in number and endangered. They helped me navigate through this cess pool. Another benefit is work from home but that soon dissipates when you have to manage 3-4 time zones. I had to manage India, UK, US (east and West) time zones.
Cons
Where do I start? This is the case of the entire cart being rotten with a few fresh bright apples that soon will either rot or move on to other places. Hostile atmosphere right from the C level suite, with absolute disregard for the employees. Work environment is the MOST unpleasant with down right ungrateful discouraging management with back biting, blame game, chaos and only focus on CYA. The level of ownership coming from global leaders is absolutely shocking (negative) with commitments made to customers and changed on whim and no support when those difficult conversations with customer takes place. Long hours to say the least with minimal pay increases. Entire department is punished in terms of low ratings and compensation due to financial loses with total disregard to the people who have no say/direct inputs in to the bad decision making and sub standard product quality. Talent being hired is sub standard and the attrition rate is among the highest in this business (payment soft ware provider). STAY AWAY especially if you are being hired in to the professional services/implementation organization. No future, no career as the CEO,CTO and other senior leadership wants to turn this in to more like Oracle/SAP and disband implementations within the next 3-5 years. Moreover, the management BLOCKS you outright with bogus performance related excuses if you want to move in between/within different organizations in the company. D- on motivation, career growth and loyalty towards organization.
