Pros

Pay is fair. Able to make your schedule work for you, but that may not last much longer. As we’ve gone public, got more “woke” and taken on ppl that are key players in making changes, who are unaware how the industry actually works, I feel like we’re less an auto industry company and more a tech/analytic/data company.

Cons

Where do I start. Morale at an all time low. Stock price at an all time low. Offered stock options as an incentive , the amount given to us all along was a lie. As we went public our total amount of shares was cut by 50%. Sitting on let’s say 5000shares was cut down to 2500 shares with the given expectations being that it will benefit us more because now each share will be worth more. We EacH gEt a bIgger sLiCe Of PIe. As we go public and watch the stock soar, only to be locked out of selling our shares for some time, which is typical. We get short windows of time only to be locked out again watching the stock tank more with each passing month. Here’s were the woke turns to schit part comes in. Committees of ppl for Diversity & Inclusion. Committees of ppl for WOMAN OF ACV zoom meetings, quizzes on how were deep down inside racists and should be ashamed. White devil, white devil. The regurgitated corporate daily Happy Birthday and Anniversary emails that have no sincerity behind them. The constant blow hard congrats on company wide email accomplishments. Schit rolls down hill, guess who’s on the bottom of the hill? The VCI. The ones out here everyday making the top players the big bucks. Every little change that is made to the process cost the VCI more time, more energy, more brain damage yet the pay stayed the same. Giving false career paths really soured it all for me. Being a senior VCI. Taking the needed steps, become well versed in everything ACV had to offer only getting ready to kick a field goal and having the goal posts damn near removed from the field and there being no actual advancement moving forward. Y’all suck. You hire brain dead inspectors. Made the new app idiot proof so you can plug and play anyone into the position. Work life balance is probably fine if you don’t actually care about the relationships you build with your dealers. They call you or text you after hours I’m there for them. Some of these other VCIs out there turn there phones off and punch out. I’ve made it to the point in time where the only way up is out. 🤘🏼

Pros

Freedom to mostly self-manage, occasionally get to interact with cool people and take pictures of cars for a living. Lots of daily driving also meant nice mileage checks, but heavy wear on my car.

Cons

99.9% of the work is photographing junk heaps that belong in a scrap yard and being encouraged to market them in better condition than they actually are, then the inspector is punished for any post-sale issues. Manager was a control freak while simultaneously being almost entirely absent; I think I saw them in-person twice in the almost 2 years I worked there. Working in direct sunlight in extreme temperatures on blacktop with a phone that constantly overheats and most cars dont have working A/C on top of smelling like pure garbage.
