Do Not Work Here - Practice Manager AEG Vision Employee Review

Pros

There really aren't any from a Practice Manager role perspective.

Cons

The job underpays (the pay for this company is only good in licensed states), but the company will tell you that you get bonuses based off store performance. The store I'm in constantly turns out numbers and hits KPIs and my pay doesn't change (there is the store data to prove it). The opticians (again, not licensed) make more than managers do. There is no work-life balance. Upper management has told all PMs that 40 is the minimum they should expect to work, but we only get paid for 40 because its a salaried position. Vacation time, sick days, and days off mean nothing, they will continue to contact you outside your business hours or expect you to take calls/meetings on your own time. You only get 10 PTO days so if you or your child gets sick, forget taking a vacation. The micro-managing is insane, as a PM, I'm not actually a PM but more of a babysitter to just keep the store in order. PMs cannot execute any real decisions without consulting with DMs or HR first. Oh, one of the best parts is much like all other corporate positions, you'll get an annual review, but they don't tie merit increases with the annual review. You could put in a lot of effort and hard work for the company and have the numbers and "review" to show it but there's no actual raise associated with it, however, if you're under performing, they will fast track you out. Prior to doing merit increases, the company at the beginning of the year will boast about how great the previous year was but then give you a silly raise that really only ends up being more taxes and you never see revenue from it and it won't cover the cost of living increases or inflation. If you let them, they will take advantage of you in every way possible. Every one of your inventory dates will be scheduled the day before or after a holiday so don't plan personal time around holidays. None of the benefits are worth working here, heath plans are expensive and have little coverage. This company tries to hard to mold itself around Luxottica's business model but gives none of the benefits that Luxottica has. Finally, no matter how abusive, degrading, rude, and hostile your customers treat you, you are still expected to accommodate them. This location is in a very unsafe neighborhood they have done absolutely nothing to ensure my or my team's safety.

Pros

Great group of people to work with, both coworkers and doctors.None of which came from AEG vision, they came with the acquired office

Cons

Promises made but never kept.Lack of training on all levels. Too much red tape when trying to solve problems. New England managment team is some of the worst in the company. Driving out most staff. Company is unable to recruit and retain tenured and qualified professionals. Only able to hire new grads and inexperienced staff. Disrespect all around. Lab is horrendous. Inferior quality products at laughable prices. The lab really cant deliver on anything. The optician spends endless time wasted on remaking jobs over and over. Then managment reprimands then for remake rates as if we had any control. In this company the bottom performers get rewarded and promoted and the dedicated and hard working are treated as invisible. Almost as invisable as the merit increases. I would never recommend this is a place to work. I would never send my family or friends to do business here.RUN. PE is ruining another healthcare industry.
